Saturday was spent at a tea with my mom and some friends -- I had the tastiest prime rib sandwich with onion jam and sweet potato fries (and a white chocolate cranberry scone... go big or go home, right?). Oh, and tea! ;) Isn't the place we go the cutest? All stone and big windows. It makes me dream of opening up a similar spot someday.
I wore this tank, which goes with everything, and speaking of things that go with everything... I haven't taken this necklace off since Christmas Day.

Sunday turned into a snow day, which my little girlfriends were thrilled about. This is them taking in the scene as they woke up (in matching robes!). We had a cozy day of playing inside and outside, watching Finding Dory, hot chocolate and warm comfort foods. Even the pup enjoyed it.
There are some new faces around here lately, so I thought it would be fun to get to know each other a little better with a little Q&A. Here are some questions for you -- answer them in the comments, if you have a minute! I'd love to learn more about you. My answers are below.
1. Where do you call home?
2. What jobs have you held, and what do you do now?

..................................................
1. Where do you call home? I was born in New York, lived in Allentown (PA) for a couple of toddler years, and grew up in Ephrata, PA, which is a small town just outside of Lancaster, PA (Amish country). I moved from that area in 2010 and have been living in New Jersey ever since. I still call Lancaster home, but where we currently live feels like home after all these years, too. I love both places.
2. What jobs have you held, and what do you do now? My first job was working in CVS Pharmacy. After that I worked at Babies R Us, and then worked at a leather shop for years during college. My first job out of college was a full-time paid internship in the Public Relations department of Auntie Anne's pretzels. From there, I worked for a couple of years at an advertising/marketing agency in the catalog department (lots of proofreading, photoshoot coordinating, and picking up lunches for people), and I have been in my current position as a Book Publicist for 7 years (!).
3. What is a secret (or not so secret) talent you have? I have a really good memory, and have always been able to memorize song lyrics really fast. So, basically, you can find me rapping or rocking out in my car 90% of the time.
4. What accomplishment are you most proud of from the past year? Does keeping the tiny humans alive count? Haha, but really, I think it's just finding the groove with our family and everyone's busy schedules, nourishing my kids with food and love.
5. What is one concert or show you want to see? So hard to pick just one! I've always wanted to see Coldplay in concert, but I think they're touring in Europe this year, so that'll have to wait. ;) I'd love to see Pentatonix during the holiday season... I feel like it would be so magical.
6. What type of person attracts you? I am drawn to people with a good sense of humor, who are authentic. I really appreciate people who are open books like me, and aren't afraid to talk about almost anything.
7. What is something you can't stop daydreaming about? Opening my own business someday. :)
8. If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Eggplant parmesan is my favorite. I could also survive happily on cereal and popcorn. ;) #carbqueen
9. Favorite place to go on vacation? I'm a beach girl. I love everything about being by the shore: the sounds, smells, relaxed vibes, the warm sun. I love the perspective the seemingly endless ocean gives. We vacation in Avalon each year and it's one of my happy places, for sure.
10. What's something that is calming to you? My sweet senior golden retriever girl, Layla. She's such a steady and loyal presence. I love her so.
Can't wait to read your answers, if you'd like to share them!

I wrote a post based off the re-introductions, but I wanted to include my answers here for you to read as well.
ReplyDelete1. Where do you call home? I call my home Reno, Nevada. I have lived in this area my whole life. Crazy right?! Especially considering how much I travel. But I feel like since I travel for work, I get my taste of the outside world and keep myself grounded here. Though I wouldn't be opposed to moving at some point in my life.
2. What jobs have you held, and what do you do now? Right now I am a Senior Agent in the Investigations Division for the Gaming Control Board. So basically, I investigate people and companies for gaming (gambling) licenses. In the past, I have been a web designer (twice), student worker on my universities campus, a clerical agent and a service rep at a video store.
3. What is a secret (or not so secret) talent you have? Just like Jen, I can remember almost anything. I have a photographic memory. This was soooo helpful when I was in school because I could picture where something was on paper and remember it that way. Also, I am double jointed in my thumbs. Not sure that is really a talent though.
4. What accomplishment are you most proud of from the past year? The past year? Can I say surviving? Or surviving three year olds?
5. What is one concert or show you'd love to see? I wrote about this a couple weeks ago in my TBB Asks post. A festival of Pink Floyd, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Aerosmith, Foo Fighters, Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars.
6. What type of person attracts you (not romantically, just generally)? Someone who is funny, intelligent, can carry on a conversation, isn't afraid to be different and is a good listener. I have seriously made some of the most amazing friends through blogging because you can get to know them so well, just by their writing, before you even meet them.
7. What is something you can't stop daydreaming about? Vacation and a new house.
8. If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Pasta. That way I can change up the sauces and if I wasn't allowed to change up the sauces, then I would go for pizza.
9. Favorite place to go on vacation? Well I go to Mexico quite often, but one of my most favorite vacations was Costa Rica on the Guanecaste province. It was amazing.
10. What's something that is calming to you? Music. I seriously turn to music for everything in my life. It definitely calms me.
Looooved reading your responses! I can't wait to check out the post! Being double jointed is DEF a talent, haha. I think my shoulders might be? Someone told me that once but I have no idea, haha. I love how we both chose Italian for our only meals. ;) Great minds! And music calms me, too. It's amazing how powerful it can be. I loved learning more about you. OH! And your job sounds pretty badass!
DeleteYour dog looks so sweet. There is something extra special about senior dogs. Thanks so much for linking up with Hello Monday - hope you have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Tanya! That's one of the best compliments I could receive. :) She is the sweetest, and I completely agree about senior pups. Hope your week is going well so far! xo
DeleteI LOVED reading this post and now I feel like I need to answer all of those questions! I am SO a beach girl too, these Chicago winters have me dreaming of warm weather. So glad that I discovered your blog, have a great week :)
ReplyDeletePlease do, Brittany -- I'd love to read your responses! :) YESSS, totally starting to plan my summer vacation now. Haha. So glad we ran into each other and look forward to following along on your adventures!
DeleteOh Layla - I bet she is such a calming presence - she is what drew me in to your blog nearly a year ago - she reminds me of my old cocker - so I love seeing your photos of Layla. Great post idea. I have to start with the tea though - what a super combination of food and tea - and of course I'd have really appreciated the tea pot, cup and saucer. The mini waffle fries looked like they tasted so good too, I haven't seen anything like that before! You Americans do GREAT THINGS with fries. Making me starving. I had to chuckle at the thought of your rapping in the car - your girls are obv not old enough yet to tell you off. I wish I could get away with doing that still haha! I am going to add in my most silly answer to the above questions - before I got my EU job I was offered a post I'd accepted but turned down for the Parliament - as a youth worker in northern Finland - I had to travel on X-country skis a lot- that was a requirement of the job haha! Hidden talent - I used to be able to play the sax but haven't for 10 years. Person who attracts me - someone who cares about the little things, has principles, laughs easily, isn't materialistic, can make a fool of themselves, doesn't care what others thinks, can grab the moment, is open minded, always learning - I've had some great pals over the years like this - the types you just decide on day - lets get on a bus and go to Spain / Holland / Germany - I guess the people you know you will live your best life with? J xx
ReplyDeleteOhhh I love it! Those are all great attributes to live up to. Laughter is so important, and I love when you can just genuinely open up with a friend. There's nothing like it. I hate feeling like there are certain things that are off limits, you know? Haha. I guess all of this makes sense since we're both communicators. ;) The tea (and accompanying food) was just perfect - you're so right about the fries. Fries are just the best. And now I'm hungry!
DeleteWhere in NJ do you live? I was born and lived most of my life in NJ!
ReplyDeleteAh, fun! I figured you might be. :) We live in South Jersey right now, right outside of Cherry Hill. We've lived in NJ for almost 9 years (originally from PA). What about you?
