Why "The Lucky Lifestyle?"

Sunday, July 30, 2017

First of all, I am really happy you stopped by. The thought that even one pair of eyes is reading this is exciting and humbling and pushing me far beyond my comfort zone... and I am thrilled. So thank you!

If you asked me what I wanted to be when I was a little girl, I would’ve told you a ballerina, a mommy, and the editor of a magazine. One of those three things – the biggest dream – came true, and although I got over my ballet aspirations quickly, the idea of being part of something creative never left me. I am so fortunate to write for a living but I’ve always envisioned creating a space that could be exactly what I want it to be: uplifting, inspiring, sometimes funny, always real.

Little known fact: I started my first blog seven (!) years ago, right after Steve and I got married. It was called HappilyEverTucker and I’d post maybe once a month about our weekend plans or some fun shopping find. I quickly realized that the format and content didn’t inspire me. I’ve since spent a lot of time thinking about what I want to offer: What do I enjoy reading? What do I want people to take away from this? Over the years one word kept coming up: connection. Whether a connection is found through humor or something more serious, I hope the world feels just a little bit smaller here.

And so, with my recent milestone birthday as the perfect excuse to finally take the leap, The Lucky Lifestyle was born. Why “The Lucky Lifestyle?” Because I whole-heartedly believe that if you think you are the luckiest person on the planet, you are. Despite hardships, I I love the idea of keeping that in mind as we go through life. When times are tough, hanging on to what makes us feel lucky (our health, our family, a beloved tradition, our home, maybe just the very fact that we are here), and when times are great, helping others to feel lucky too.

In that spirit, I hope to use this space to build a warm community where I, and hopefully you, come to feel inspired, connected, and engaged. Where you might find thoughts on parenthood, lucky shopping finds, life hacks, career advice (most likely not from me!), and lots of “has this ever happened to you, too?” moments. Where the focus is on a lifestyle, not a styled life.

Thank you, again, from the bottom of my heart for your support!
