Weekend Recap + This Week's Menu

How was your weekend? Ours was busy but lots of fun!

Friday I got my hair chopped! I had no intention of going so short, but I sort of blacked out when I got to the salon and let the stylist just go to town. Usually, I'm nervous to have my hair cut, but for whatever reason I couldn't have cared less this time around. It looks really cute curled, but I'm not so sure how I feel about it straight so far. Luckily I wear my hair up 95% of the time these days, and also luckily, hair grows. ;)

On Saturday Steve and C headed to a friend's birthday party and had a blast, while H and I headed to Lancaster for our 24th annual family weekend. We hit the mall first and then met up with everyone for an early dinner at the diner (a very important part of our annual tradition, haha). Fun fact: I love diners. Especially diner spaghetti. Now you know! After the diner we headed back to my aunt's house where the kids played until bedtime.

The next morning I met my cousin (hi Gigi!) for breakfast at a super cute little bakery/restaurant. I had the vegetable quiche with an iced coffee, and we split a homemade poptart for dessert. YOU GUYS. I need to figure out a good homemade poptart recipe right away. This thing was incredible!

After that I headed over to a surprise baby sprinkle for our friend (hi Brit!). It was the cutest little party and so much fun to celebrate another sweet babe on the way. :) From there, I headed home to NJ where Steve and the girls were waiting for me (well, actually, they had run out to Home Depot and the playground so they actually weren't home when I arrived!). And now it's time to throw our (short) hair up, put on some gangsta rap, and tackle a new week.

What's on your dinner menu for the week? Ours is pretty simple:

Monday - Tortellini with homemade tomato sauce (trying this recipe!)

Tuesday - Chipotle (visiting Steve at work, and the girls have been asking to get Chipotle, so we're making a little night of it!)

Wednesday - Tacos with rice and corn

Thursday - Baked chicken and mashed potatoes

Friday - Leftovers

Saturday - Out!

  1. I just LOVE your haircut! I cut my hair so short last year while my husband was deployed, and it was one of the most liberating decisions! I AM grateful it grows back though haha

And what a fun baby sprinkle! I love that it was a surprise, too - so special :)

    1. Thank you, Melissa! I appreciate that! And I totally agree -- something about just going for it is so freeing! I think I might have gone with less layers, but truthfully, I had way too much hair and it needed to be lightened up. So here we go! The sprinkle was so darn cute -- every detail was thought of. Hope you enjoyed your weekend!!

  2. I love the length of your haircut! If you're not so sure about layers I recommend using this Redkin product called No Blow Dry (NBD!) that you put on damp hair and your hair air-dries however you style it. So like if you brush it straight it will stay straight, if you twist it away from your face you can get beach waves. I use it all the time!

  3. What a great weekend!! Your hair looks amazing curled! I wish I had more time and knew how to do mine better. It's always usually just down. I need to get a hair cut but have been putting it off. I love all of the fun you had! Diners are one of my favorites too but I usually end up getting breakfast. I was just talking to Eric about how we haven't been to one in awhile. That sprinkle is so cute! I hope everyone had a great time. Sierra Beautifully Candid

    1. Thanks, Sierra! I was completely the same way -- and I'm sure I'll never be able to style it like that again, but oh well! ;) Diner breakfasts are SO good (and cheap!). Hope you had a fun weekend!

  4. I love your hair. It looks so cute. A lot like mine! That baby shower/sprinkle looks sooo cute. Love that cake. I am loving your menu this week. I haven't been able to cook since my surgery and then next week is vacation at the cabins and they cook for us. I can't wait.

  6. I love your haircut too! In the second picture you REALLY suit it a bit straight and then a curl at the bottom too - I would keep it like that, looks fabulous! Your ice coffee looks gorgeous too - I am a proper convert these days. Lovely baby shower - I wish they would take off more here! J xx

    1. Welcome to the dark (cold?) side of iced coffee, haha! :) So tasty, especially in these warm months. And thank you so much about the hair. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to doing it myself, but maybe I'll learn a few new tricks. xo
