It's a new week & a new month!
Thank you so much for your great feedback on last Monday's post -- it was helpful and inspiring for me to see that many of you feel the same way I do! And your support of the second Women Who Inspire profile meant the world. I personally had so many takeaways from Stephanie's perspective on managing life (it's juggling, NOT balance), grieving, motherhood, and embracing adventure, and I'm glad you did too.

What did you do this weekend? We kicked it off by heading to my hometown's annual street fair on Friday -- it's the 100th anniversary this year! If you're not familiar with it, the Ephrata Fair is the largest street fair in Pennsylvania. For five days, most of Main Street and State Street are shut down to make room for food, games, and rides. I've never missed a year even though I live almost 2 hours away now -- it's more fun than ever bringing the girls along.
Saturday was a super-productive "catch up" day. Do you guys ever designate days for just catching up with life? It was a beautiful day, so we opened all the windows, lit a candle (White Pumpkin from B&BW is the best), and went to town cleaning, sorting paperwork, etc. After a simple home-cooked dinner, we took the girls to the bookstore for a little and picked up our grocery order on the way home. Saturday night I finally put my feet up and decided to watch Steel Magnolias -- can you believe I've never seen it? Have you? I cried! It wasn't what I expected.
Sunday we surprised the girls by taking them to the beach (or, as a good New Jerseyan woudl say, "down the shore") after lunch. They were in heaven -- they both love everything about the beach so much. Steve took them into the water to jump over the waves (with me silently praying, of course, haha) -- and they spent a couple of hours digging holes, building castles, and chasing seagulls. Then we changed and grabbed some dinner and icecream on the boardwalk before heading home for bed. If I could describe an ideal day, it might have been yesterday.
In other news, I know many of you like LOFT, and they're running their biggest sale of the season right now -- 50% off plus free shipping! I love these earrings, this dress (looks so flattering!), and this sweater (I'm really feeling that color for fall).
On to...
This week's menu:
Monday - Baked chicken nachos (w/ onion, pinto beans, rotisserie chicken & cheese)
Tuesday - Burgers (getting use out of the grill!), red potatoes & mixed veggies
Wednesday - Crockpot chicken tortilla soup
Thursday - Leftovers
Friday - Homemade pizza & side salad
Saturday - Out

Wishing you all the least-Mondayest Monday! ;)
The fair looks like so much fun and to think it's been going on in some capacity for 100 years!! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteI know! While we were walking around, I was trying to picture what it was like that first year, or even 50 years ago. Every year must have looked so different (and yet, somehow the same).
DeleteIt was great to see your girls at the beach (while we are were in the LOW forties this morning haha) - and that you are making the most of these moments. Fairgrounds are a great place to be a child again - one of those places where you always leave your cares behind! Plus a weekend with a catch up day, as well as fun times is always the best. I can't believe it was the first time you watch Steel Magnolias! It is one of my favourite ever films, so sad, but so good. I want Dolly in it as my BFF, she rocks. Happy Monday Jen! J xx
DeleteI can't believe it was my first time watching Steel Magnolias either! I agree about Dolly -- she had the best lines. I don't know why, but I didn't expect it to be so sad! I may have curled up in bed with C for a little bit halfway through (since I can't get in the crib with H, haha) and just stared at her little face like a crazy person. ;) I hope your weekend was a good one, too! xo
DeleteCatch up days like that are sometimes so needed and sometimes the best days!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree! I felt so good after Saturday! xo
DeleteWhat a fun weekend! I miss our local harvest fair from back in New Hampshire. We're working to make new traditions here in Washington, but it's never quite the same, is it? Have a wonderful Monday - and week ahead!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Melissa! I get that 100% -- there are always new traditions to be made but, you're right, there's just something about those hometown ones. Hope your week is off to a good start!
DeleteI bought the cutest sweater from Loft yesterday. it is gray with black splatter all over it. Loving the sleeves. What a great weekend. The fair and the beach.
ReplyDeleteAll these sales are sort of killing me! Not that I'm buying much, but they're all so tempting, haha. I can't wait to see your new sweater!!
DeleteWe had the SAME Saturday, except my candle was Birch Bark from Yankee via TJMaxx.
ReplyDeleteYESSS! Yay for productive/relaxing Saturdays! The. Best.
