Hey, hey! How was your weekend? We enjoyed an Olivia-themed second birthday party in my hometown on Saturday morning -- cupcakes and coffee, yum! It's fun to bring the girls to the place where I grew up. We were on Main Street and I was pointing out all of the little places I frequented as a child, from the post office to the movie theater, to the hardware store and my family's favorite spot for a slice of pizza. On the way out of town, we drove by the house I grew up in. There was a big play set out back and it made me happy to think of other kids growing up there!
On Saturday after nap we headed to one of my kids' favorite spots for dinner. It's a popular restaurant around here that specializes in grilled cheese (yes, please) and is super colorful and fun -- sort of a 50's-style diner/ice cream shop.
Sunday morning began with a (solo!) Target run, which was fantastic. They have the best spring stuff -- I had to practically run by the home section with blinders on, but I did spot these little cuties. Wouldn't these make such a sweet mini gallery wall?
The rest of Sunday was super laid back and full of playing and cleaning up the house. Steve has off today, so even though I still have work, it feels like a bit of an extended weekend over here! The girls had gymnastics, a play date, and a movie afternoon. Not too shabby.
Here's our menu for the week:
Monday - Homemade pizza, chopped salad
Tuesday - Tikka masala chicken with rice and broccoli
Wednesday - Baked ziti (using our favorite meat sauce), salad
Thursday - Leftovers
Friday - Fish sticks, fries, and roasted brussels
Saturday - Out
Hope Monday is being kind to you!
I love 50s style diners - and small rural American towns - my dream would be to do a road trip of a ton of them! Would you ever live back in your home town? BTW I love that photo of Haddie - she looks like if you would tickle her she'd spit milk all over your face haha!
ReplyDeleteThat would be so fun -- I'll go with you! So, my hometown is about 20 minutes outside of a larger town that has actually blown up in popularity since I've lived there. It's a hot tourist destination now, and a popular place to live. It's really interesting. The thing is, because of that, housing prices and cost of living have gone way up (and because it's still rural, there are not as many jobs out that way) so I'm not sure it would make sense. But my family is there, and that is a huge draw. I guess that's a long-winded way of saying, I'm not sure! I wouldn't rule it out, but we're also happy where we are right now. :) PS - Haddie's mouth was full of whipped cream! haha
